Why do you no longer offer Jeep rentals?
Due to new county regulations we can no longer offer Jeep rentals within Currituck County. The county made us aware of these changes in early 2013, which has given us enough time to make the changes necessary to be conforming. We understand that many patrons who rent Jeeps desire both the off-road adventure and the sightseeing that driving the 4X4 beach provides. At Wild Horse Adventure Tours, we felt a traditional-style horse tour would not satisfy this lust for adventure, so a hybrid tour has been created. This offers all-new access to the Wild Horse Sanctuary, with trails through dunes and forests. These trails are so demanding that our previous tour vehicles would not cut it. In response, Hummer Adventure Tours was born.
How long are the tours?
Tours are approximately 2 hours long including travel time to and from the beach, which is about a 10 minute drive.
Do I need a reservation?
Yes, we do require reservations and pre-payment to book a tour. Give us a call as soon as you know when you want to go on a tour so that you get your desired time and day because we do fill up fast.
What is your cancellation policy?
What if it rains the day of my tour?
The Outer Banks has really varied weather. The Outer Banks spans a large area and so when a weather forecast predicts rain in the Outer Banks this certainly does not mean it will rain in Corolla. If you are concerned about the weather for your tour please call us on 252.489.2020 and we will check into it. We will not send out tours during thunderstorms and / or heavy rain as this would endanger you and our drivers. These tours will be canceled and a full refund or rescheduled tour depending on availability will be given.
Are car seats allowed?
Yes, there are no age restrictions to take a tour. We just ask that you take the car seat out of your vehicle and our guides will help you get it into the tour vehicle.
What time of the year do the mustangs run in Outer Banks?
The Outer Banks wild horses, unlike the Chincoteague Wild Ponies do not have a "run" or "swim". The horses are available for viewing year-round.
What is the best time of day to see the horses?
Our guides know where to look for the horses at different times of day, different times of the year and during different weather conditions. Its recommended that you choose the time of the day based on your own parties preference.
Can you recommend a good vacation rental company?
